Simpson's commitment to product design and testing has grown and expanded over the years to include a whole-systems approach to building design. One of the key milestones that launched us down this path was the development of our first factory-built wood shearwall - the Strong-Wall®.

The introduction of pre-fabricated shearwalls not only brought an alternative to site-built walls, but also helped streamline the quality, consistency and performance of shearwalls in the field. Today, Simpson offers a full array of code-listed Wood and Steel Strong-Wall Shearwalls.

Simpson Strong-Tie Steel Strong-Wall shearwalls are code-listed to the 2006 IRC/IBC (see ICC-ES ESR-1679) and conform to ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria (AC322). Please read more about the Steel Strong-Wall under the new code.

Working with specifiers, builders and contractors has enabled Simpson to design a composite shearwall that features some of the highest allowable loads in the industry while offering the easiest and fastest installation: The Steel Strong-Wall®.

The Wood Strong-Wall® can be installed around window and door openings or any other location where increased lateral resistance is required. Wood Strong-Walls can reduce the space needed for shearwalls, allowing for more windows and doors in house designs.
